Corrections and Retractions

Journal of English Language Teaching and Education (JELTE) is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record. Corrections or retractions may be issued when errors, inaccuracies, or serious concerns are identified in a published article.

Corrections

A Correction Notice may be published when an error in a published article affects the accuracy, clarity, or completeness of the article but does not invalidate its main findings or conclusions. Corrections may include errors in text, authorship information, affiliations, figures, tables, references, or other relevant information.

The Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the Editorial Board and the authors where appropriate, will determine whether a correction is necessary. The correction will clearly describe the error and the amendment made. The correction notice will be linked to the original article to ensure transparency.

Retractions

A published article may be retracted when there is reliable evidence that the article contains serious problems that substantially affect its validity or integrity. Grounds for retraction may include:

  • fabrication or falsification of data;
  • substantial plagiarism;
  • serious research or publication misconduct;
  • duplicate or redundant publication;
  • major errors that invalidate the research findings;
  • unethical research practices;
  • manipulation of the peer-review or publication process; or
  • other circumstances that seriously compromise the integrity of the published work.

Retraction Procedure

When a potential reason for retraction is identified, the Editor will conduct an initial assessment and may request an explanation or supporting evidence from the authors. Where necessary, the Editor may consult reviewers, subject experts, or the relevant institution.

The final decision to issue a correction or retraction rests with the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with the Editorial Board, based on the available evidence and applicable publication-ethics principles.

A retraction notice will provide the reason for the retraction and will remain permanently linked to the original article. The original article will not normally be removed from the journal archive, but it will be clearly identified as “Retracted” to preserve the transparency and integrity of the scholarly record.

JELTE may also publish an Expression of Concern when there are substantial unresolved concerns about a published article but insufficient evidence is currently available to justify a retraction.

All correction, retraction, and post-publication actions will be handled fairly, transparently, and consistently with accepted publication-ethics practices.
