AI Policy

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

JECL: Journal of English Classroom Learning and Instruction recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI), including generative AI and AI-assisted technologies, can support researchers and authors in various stages of academic work. At the same time, the use of AI must not compromise academic integrity, originality, transparency, confidentiality, or the responsibility of human authors.

  1. Authors must disclose the use of generative AI (tool, version, purpose) in the Methods or Acknowledgments. Use for language polishing is allowed with disclosure; AI-generated data, images, analyses, or references presented as original are prohibited. Authors remain fully responsible for content.
  2. Reviewers must not use AI to assess manuscripts and must not upload any part of a manuscript to AI applications, as this breaches confidentiality.
  3. Editors disclose any AI use in editorial processes, do not upload manuscripts to AI tools, and never delegate scientific judgment to AI.
